RED DOOR VISION
Beverly Andrews is an American actress,playwright and documentary film director living in the United Kingdom. Beverly's acting credits include work for several Radio Four dramas including Stranger in a Strange Land. She has also appeared in the BBC's hit comedy Little Miss Jocelyn.
As a playwright her play Septimus Severus, Rome's African Emperor was a runner-up for the Alfred Fagan award and her play Annawon's Song was short-listed by the Sundance Theatre lab and runner up in 2014 for the Alfred Fagan award. Her play Circles made the Alfred Fagon long list for 2015 and made its New York premier as part of Emerging Artists Theatre, New Works series.
She recently wrote and directed the documentary I am Going to Make a Miracle which looks at the work of Turkish theatre director Mehmet Ergen which was screened at the prestigious Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, Fountainhead's Black International film festival in Berlin, Rome Independent International Film Festival, Columbia Gorge International Film Festival - Washington, Lefkas International Digital Festival - Greece, Great Lakes International Film Festival, Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, Delhi, and Israel's Near Nazareth Film Festival. She is also a recipient of the Daka Saheb Phalke Jury prize for Special Mention documentary and the Bangalore Shorts Festival – Best editing Jury prize. She was also co-director on the documentary Working From a Different Script.
Beverly is a recipient of six Arts Council of England Research and Development awards. Her play Love Bites makes its New York premier at the Dream Up festival at Theatre for The New City; a recipient of the Pultizer Prize in September. Her play Awa's Journey makes it's New York premier as part of the Thespis Theatre Festival in 2017. Awa's Journey also made its London premier as a guest project at the Yinka Sonibare Studios with an additional staged reading performed at the Arcola Theatre.
