Andrew Lawden
Andrew trained and graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, with a BA Performance Degree in Drama with and Acting major , being named as one of the promising newcomers on graduation. Andrew was chosen from over 7000 applicants , having got in to 3 drama schools , and is grateful for being able to train ,thanks to being eligible for a grant , given to him , due to the loss of his father at a young age.
Born and raised in Midlands / Warwickshire , from a Scottish / Italian/Ukrainian /jewish background , ( ” a posh Peaky Blinder !” ) , Andrew discovered this was later very useful for acting jobs , as it gave him a wide casting range .
Coming from a military family . Andrew was originally going to continue this tradition , spending a couple of years in the Navy Reserves , but decided it wasn’t for him , when he discovered drama and law. For a while , it looked like being a solicitor was going to be the choice , but acting won the day !
Andrew has been fortunate enough to work in numerous award – winning plays , musicals , t.v shows , and films ;- from Olivier/ Evening standard winner , ” bouncers “, by Johns Godber , to Olivier and Tony award winning shows such as “West Side Story ” and “Grand Hotel ” , to BAFTA winning shows such as “Topboy ” , and “Eastenders “, and Oscar nominated / winning films such as “Robin Hood , Prince of Thieves “, and “Star Wars – Phantom Menace ” .
He enjoys learning new skills on every job he undertakes . To date , he has acted in English , French , Italian , German and Russian . Often cast as ” military , mean , big and funny ” , he always welcomes the chance to sing and dance a bit !
